Eurofi 2000
Revue d'Économie Financière, 2001, vol. 62, issue 2, 13-38
Abstract:
[eng] Banking and financial Europe raises numerous issues and requires important effort towards convergence of legal, regulatory, fiscal and technical matters. But, traditional approach, based essentially on the concept of national market places, now appears obsolete. In this context, the association Eurofi 2000 has undertake a broad-ranging reflection to identify new ways of encouraging the emergence of a European market for banking and financial services. Eurofi 2000 concludes that integration should move ahead rapidly, that legal and regulatory frameworks and the taxation of savings should be harmonized. It advocates the unification of financial markets, the opening of the savings market and the preparation of retail banking europeanisation. These reforms should be undertaken at a more operational rate and according to more operational methods. . JEL classifications : G18, G28
