A history of the market, from « agents de change » to Euronext

Jean-Pierre Pinatton

Revue d'Économie Financière, 2006, vol. 82, issue 1, 17-26

Abstract: [eng] Between 1970 and 1990, the roughly 20-year process of virtually continuous reform did not only affect brokers and stock exchanges. It also saw a change in the profile of the customer base and reform of market authorities. To give an idea of the scale of this shift, this article discusses changes in each of four areas : customers, market institutions, brokers and market authorities. .
