Abstract: [fre] Après avoir étudié les données géographiques, démographiques et économiques du Sud-Ouest, l'auteur propose de prendre des mesures énergiques pour sauver ce qui peut l'être : par une orientation des exploitations qui tienne compte de la complémentarité des zones, par l'aménagement rural et en particulier la maîtrise de l'eau, par l'élargissement de la base industrielle fournissant un emploi à la main- d'œuvre agricole excédentaire, enfin par une mise en œuvre démocratique de ces mesures. . Sinon, la région risque de ne plus comporter dans l'avenir qu'un centre hypertrophié et fragile, entouré d'un désert parsemé de quelques oasis. [eng] After having studied geographical, demographic and economical facts in the south-west, the author tries to take diastic measures to preserve which is worth to : in guiding the farmers according to the complementarity of the areas, the regional planing concerning particularly irrigation, by the industrial development which creates jobs for the agricultural manpower in excess, and at last by setting up democratically these measures. . Otherwise, the region may only presents in the future an hypertrophied and weak center, with wilderness surrounded by deserts around spotted with feed oasis.
