Abstract: [fre] L'élevage spécialisé du Limousin est-il compétitif ? Une certaine intensification fourragère, une meilleure gestion du troupeau à viande, un regroupement des éleveurs pour achever les animaux sont nécessaires. . Cependant, l'orientation commerciale est également à revoir : plutôt que de produire surtout de l'extra, les éleveurs limousins feraient mieux de s'orienter vers une production standard de jeunes bovins, destinés à la distribution de masse et à l'exportation en Europe. [eng] Is the highly specialised cattle breeding of Limousin competitive ? A somewhat more intensive grass production, a better management of the meat producing herd, an association of cattle breeders at the fattening-finishing stage are necessary. . However, the commercial trend has to be altered : rathet than producing first class meat, the cattle breeders would do better to produce standard baby-beef for modern mass distribution and export to European countries.
