Abstract: [fre] II y a les économistes et il y a ceux qui formulent leur pensée sous la forme d'un discours. Mais la démarche des uns et des autres va toujours de la formulation d'une hypothèse à sa vérification. . Les économistes ruraux sont peu sortis de l'hexagone, au moins par la pensée. Ils ont concentré .leur réflexion sur l'avenir de l'agriculture française : l'industrialisation de il' agriculture, les chances de l'exploitation familiale, d'intégration de l'exploitation dans le complexe agro-alimentaire, la signification du prix payé au producteur, la notion de pouvoir économique et enfin le rôle de l'Etat et des organisations professionnelles. . Leur fonction les amène à remettre en cause l'ordre établi. Sont-ils marxistes pour autant? D'abord, qu'est-ce que cela signifie d'être marxiste ? Un certain marxisme est sous-jacent à notre époque. En économie, cela a conduit les chercheurs à s'interroger principalement sur le fondement de la valeur et sur les vertus des mécanismes de marché. . Malgré des divergences, on peut conclure à l'existence d'une école française d'économie rurale. [eng] A french school of Agricultural Economies ? - There are economists and there are those whose thought takes the form of a speech. But both begin by formulating an hypothesis which they then check. Agricultural economists have rarely left France, as far as their thought is concerned at any rate. They have concentrated their thought on the future of French agriculture, its industrialisation, the future of family farms, the integration of the farm in the agricultural-food-industries complex, the significance of the price paid to the producer, the notion of economic power, and finally the role of the State and of professional organisations. . Their function leads them to challenge the established order. But are they Marxists for all that ? To begin with, what does being a Marxist mean ? A certain Marxism underlies our time. In economics this has led research- workers to inquire into the bases of value and the workings of the market. . In spite of these divergences one can conclude that there is a French school of agricultural economics.
