Abstract: [fre] La production italienne de fruits frais a atteint dam certaines catégories des niveaux de quantité difficilement çoutenables, qui imposent de reconsidérer et de mieux qualifiier l'offre. . L'élargissement de la Communauté Economique Européenne accentuera inévitablement une concurrence déjà redoutable sur les principaux marchés européens. Cette éventualité inquiète les producteurs de fruits italiens, elle pourrait rendre vains les efforts déjà effectués pour rationaliser la pro auction et améliorer la commercialisation. Même si les répercussions dans le domaine des pommes étaient relativement limïées, la situation dans le secteur des pêches et du raisin df table deviendrait particulièrement délicate. La prédominance italienne actuelle dans le cadre de l'Europe pourrait, en effet être gravement compromise par la concurrence grecque et espagnole. [eng] Situation and prospects of italian fresh fruit production - Italian fresh fruit production has in certain categories reached quantities that cannot be tolerated and which require that its supply should be reconsidered and better defined. If the EEC admits new members the already harsh competition on the main European markets will be increased. Italian fruit farmers are concerned about this possibility which might make efforts to rationalize production and improve marketing ineffectual. Even if its effect on apples was relatively limited the situation in the peach and eating — grapes sectors would become particularly difficult. Present Italian predominance in Europe might well be threatened by Greek and Spanish competition.
