Abstract: [fre] Au même titre que les facteurs idéologiques et historiques, les conditions physiques constituent l'un des éléments essentiels qui déterminent les formes prises par le mode de développement soviétique sous ses aspects techniques et organisationnels. La prise en considération de cet élément permet de mieux comprendre la logique du modèle agricole mis en place après 1929, son évolution et les formes très lourdes qu'il prend actuellement. De même les problèmes de l'utilisation de la nature et des choix technologiques actuels ne peuvent être examinés sans référence suffisante à ces conditions physiques. On en vient alors à se demander s'il n'est pas nécessaire de penser les choix techniques — et donc de société — dans des termes très différents selon les zones géographiques. L'uniformisation des genres de vie moderne n'est pas une fatalité. [eng] The soviet development model and ecology - Along with ideological and historical factors physical conditions are one of the essential elements determining the forms taken by the Soviet method of development in its technical and organizational aspects. By taking this element into account one can better understand the logic of the farming model set up after 1929, and its evolution and the cumbrous form it is taking on at the moment. Similarly the problems of the use of nature and present technological choices cannot be examined without adequate reference to the physical conditions. Is it not necessary to think of technical choices — and hence the choice of society — and hence the choice of society — according to geographical zones ? Modern uniformization of ways of life, is not imposed by fate.
