Abstract: [fre] La diminution relative de l 'importance de l'agriculture dans tout pays industrialisé est une loi économique connue depuis longtemps mais celle-ci s'accompagnait généralement d'une progression des quantités produites et partant du revenu d'activité. . Or, l'examen attentif des Comptes de l'Agriculture Française récemment réajustés dans la nouvelle nomenclature révèle un fait nouveau qui ne manquera pas d'inquiéter la profession ; depuis le début des années soixante la tendance à long terme est celle d'un revenu à pouvoir d'achat stationnaire. . Ayant, après calculs, vérifié cette constance à partir des statistiques globales, l'auteur tente d'expliquer pourquoi, même en l'absence de rapports de prix défavorables, le revenu agricole ne bénéficie désormais qu'avec une extrême parcimonie des hausses en volume de la production. [eng] The relative decrease in the importance of farming in all industrialized countries is an economic law that has been well known for some time, but it was usually accompanied by an increase in the quantities produced and hence of Income. . But a careful examination of French Farming Accounts, recently readjusted with the new nomenclature, indicates a new fact that cannot but give the farming profession cause for concern. Since the beginning of the sixties the long-term tendency is for purchasing power to remain stationary. . The writer, after checking this by calculations based on global statistics, tries to explain why, even without unfavourable comparative prices, farm income varies only very slightly with the increased volume of production.
