Abstract: [fre] Si la JAC a eu un rôle que l'on s'accorde à reconnaître essentiel dans la modernisation de l'agriculture, ce n'est pas tant à l'originalité de ses propositions ni à sa très forte présence sur le terrain qu'elle le doit. Son apport spécifique tient au fait que son analyse de la modernisation s'insère dans une conception de la société et de l'individu qui sous-tend toutes ses actions et dans laquelle les jeunes paysans trouvent une raison de vivre et de se battre pour leur métier. C'est par là qu'elle a pu à la fois former des producteurs modernes et les dirigeants professionnels nécessaires à leur encadrement. If the Catholic Agricultural Youth Movement (JAC) has played an essential part inform modernization, the reason is not so much to be found in the originality of their propositions nor in their presence throughout the country. Their specific contribution is due to an analysis of the modernization within a conception of man and society on which all actions are based and within the young farmers find the reason to defend their profession. This is how the JAC has trained both modern producers and professionnal leaders for their organization.
