Les cultures vivrières et le problème alimentaire de la Côte d'Ivoire

Abstract: [fre] La Côte d'Ivoire se trouve désormais confrontée au problème de l'autosuffisance alimentaire. Une modification de plus en plus nette des habitudes alimentaires des Ivoiriens, liée à l'urbanisation rapide du pays, à l'augmentation du revenu moyen et à la politique de bas prix du riz à la consommation, entraîne une augmentation rapide des importations de céréales. Face à cette tendance, la production de produits vivriers, trop longtemps délaissée par l'Etat, a du mal à suivre, en l'absence d'incitations suffisantes pour les producteurs et d'une amélioration de la productivité. Le système commercial, enfin, malgré une capacité d'adaptation réelle souffre d'un certain nombre de faiblesses dues à son caractère traditionnel. Elles limitent son efficacité. [eng] Ivory Coast must now face the problem of food self-sufficiency. With steady urbanization, growth of personal income, low price for rice take place new food consumption habits. The most important result of that situation is the rapid rate of increase of cereals importations. On the other hand, foodcrops do not grow at the same rate because they are not up to now seriously supported by the government (stagnant productivity, lackness of attractive and stable prices). Finally private marketing channels perform well enough, but their means are not really adequate and shorten their efficiency.
