L'économie rurale: quelle (s) spécificité (s) ?

Abstract: [eng] The debate on the specific nature of agricultural economics is an old one. It cannot be evaded when the objective is stock-taking on the state of our discipline or si m ply teaching it. The epistemological questioning can be approached from historical or theoretical angles. Agricultural economics has historically developped on the border zone between agricultural and social sciences and has generated specific professions, institutions and publications. There is no consensus, from the point of view of theory, on its specific nature. Certain current orientations give it a special place within the field of economics but no definite conclusion can be reached today in this debate on specificity. [fre] Pour n'être pas nouvelle, la question de la spécificité de l'économie rurale reste de celles qu'il convient d'affronter, qu'on fasse le point sur notre discipline ou, plus simplement qu'on ait la charge de l'enseigner. . Cette interrogation épistémologique peut être abordée sur deux plans, l'un historique, l'autre théorique. . Historiquement parlant l'économie rurale s'est constituée à l'articulation des sciences agronomiques et des sciences sociales, elle a généré des métiers, des institutions, des publications spécifiques. Du point de vue théorique, la spécificité de son objet ne semble pas rencontrer de véritable consensus, quoique certaines orientations actuelles puissent prétendre contribuer à spécifier sa place dans le champ de l'économique. Il ne semble pas possible aujourd'hui de conclure et la question reste ouverte.
