Installation, transmission du patrimoine et reproduction d'un système agraire. Le cas de l'agriculture du Midi de la France

Abstract: [eng] Admitting that the reproduction of family farming as a mode of production derives from a double selective process (selection between farmers and between their heirs) and that the models which are supposed to represent these phenomenae have vastly underestimated the importance and the diversity of the mecanisms of patrimony accumulation and transmission ; this papers presents the results observed in the agricultural pattern caracteristic of the Mediterranean South of France. Analysing the data of the Land tenure survey of the « RGA^ Foncier» and the observations made from various « Cantons» we point out the specificity of the fecondity of the agricultural population of the Languedoc, and the effect of the difference in size of the patrimony received on the future evolution of the farm units. These results bring a new light on the importance of the patrimony in the production process. [fre] A partir du constat que la reproduction de l'agriculture familiale en tant que forme de production est nécessairement un processus doublement sélectif (sélection entre agriculteurs, et entre héritiers d'agriculteurs), et que les modèles censés rendre compte de son fonctionnement ont largement sous-estimé l'importance et la diversité des mécanismes liés à l'accumulation et à la transmission du patrimoine, cet article rend compte des résultats obtenus en ce domaine pour un système agraire régional caractéristique du Midi méditerranéen français. S'appuyant à la fois sur les résultats du RGA Foncier et sur des observations réalisées dans divers cantons, il constate l'existence de spécificités dans la fécondité de la population agricole languedocienne, ainsi que le poids des inégalités de patrimoine foncier reçu sur les évolutions ultérieures des exploitations. Ces résultats i nvitent à porter une attention pi us grande que par le passé aux aspects patrimoniaux dans le fonctionnement du système productif.
