Abstract: [fre] L'énorme accroissement des échanges internationaux, le développement des flux internationaux de capitaux par le jeu de marchés fortement intégrés dont l'action engendre des phénomènes massifs d'endettement, le passage à des systèmes de change flexibles, ont provoqué, depuis 20 ans, dans le monde, une grande instabilité monétaire qui a des effets profonds sur les marchés des grands produits agricoles. Ceci conduit à remettre en cause les politiques de soutien des prix des produits agricoles et les accords sur les produits et même à reconsidérer la signification du concept d'avantage comparatif (Red.) [eng] Over the past 20 years, several factors have created a great world monetary instability with deep effects on major agricultural commodity markets. The main causes are : the great increase in trade volumes ; the development of huge international capital flows through the operation of integrated money markets inducing massive indebtedness ; the shift over to floating exchange rates. This instability implies that domestic price supports makes little sense, that international commodity agreements will tend to break down and even that the significance of the concept of comparative advantage should be reconsidered (Editor).
