Innovation technique et rapport sociaux. Le cas des maraîchers du Roussillon

Abstract: [fre] L'adoption de la technique de production en « hors-sol » pour la production de tomates dans le Roussillon est d'abord le fait d'individus que distinguent certaines caractéristiques sociales : mutants professionnels, migrants, voire mutants-migrants. Les maraîchers de souche, jeunes, souvent diplômés, issus des vieilles familles de « jardiniers », s'engagent à leur tour dans cette production. La grande hétérogénéité sociale des adoptants rend difficile la mise en place d'un groupe technique. L'examen des diverses formes de rapport à la technique (et à l'innovation) chez les maraîchers hors-sol remet en cause la « théorie » de l'agriculture duale, tout en invitant à la mise en place de « services » plus souples, mieux adaptés. [eng] Technical innovation and social relationships - The case of vegetable producers in the Roussillon - The adoption of soilless technique for tomato production, in the region Roussillon, is principally operated by people having certain social characteristics, who particularly come from other professions and/or other parts of the country. The genine vegetable producers who are young, frequently graduates, stemmed from the ancient « gardeners » breed, gradually begin to practise this technique. The important social heterogeneity of these newcomers makes professional collaboration difficult. Examining the various types of relationships to technique (and to innovation) among these producers questions the « theory » of dual agriculture (a), and suggest to sets « services » more flexible and more fitted to the diverse needs of their utilizers.
