Agriculture et industries agro-alimentaires en Algérie: concurrence ou convergence ?

Abstract: [eng] Inspite of ressources, Algeria has been able to improve noticeably the nutritionnal situation of a population which doubled between 1965 and 1987. This is a substantial improvment. This result has been achieved through the increase in imported basic commodities. Most of the time those imported products are transformed by national industries which have rapidly developped their production capacity. As the energy ressources are decreasing, a better connection between the local agricultural ressources and the new industrial tools is becoming a necessity. By using imported products the national industry is competing with its own farmers and is destroying the organisation of the traditionnal food crops, sometimes in an irreversible way. The competition between traditionnal agriculture and food industries has to become a convergency. [fre] Malgré des ressources agricoles limitées, l'Algérie est parvenue à sensiblement améliorer la situation nutri- tionnelle d'une population qui a doublé entre 1965 et 1987. C'est un progrès considérable. Il a été acquis au prix d'un emballement des importations de produits de base, le plus souvent transformés par des usines nationales qui ont rapidement élargi leur capacité de production. Avec le rétrécissement de la rente énergétique, une meilleure articulation entre ressources agricoles locales et nouveaux outils industriels devient indispensable. En utilisant des produits importés, l'industrie nationale concurrence, en effet, ses propres paysans et déstructure, parfois de façon Irréversible, les filières vivrières traditionnelles. Il faut transformer ces concurrences en convergences.
