Abstract: [fre] L'innovation n'est pas gage absolu de progrès. Elle doit être adaptée au contexte de l'itinéraire technique mais surtout de l'exploitation. Chaque exploitation est un système original de relations technico-économiques. L'innovation modifie le fonctionnement du système et n'est un progrès que si les modifications bénéfiques sont plus importantes que les maléfiques. L'innovation ne peut être évaluée que par l'exploitant pilote du système, dont il supporte les contraintes et dans lequel il réalise son projet de vie. De cela découle que les innovations doivent être testées dans une gamme large de critères "d'insertion" et pas seulement "de performance", et qu'une même innovation ne présente pas le même intérêt pour toutes les exploitations. [eng] Innovation is not an absolute guarantee of progress. It has to be adapted to the context of the "technical management itinerary" and above all to that of the farm. Each farm is a unique system of techno-economic relationships. Innovation alters the way this system operates and only entails progress when beneficial changes are greater than maleficent changes. An innovation can only be assessed by the farmer who operates the system, who has to bear its constraints and through which he attempts to achieve his life goals. This implies that innovations must be tested within a wide range of "insertion" and not only of performance criteria, and that a specific innovation way not be of equal interest to all farms.
