Abstract: [fre] Le dispositif français de préretraite agricole, appliqué de 1992 à 1994 (et reconduit depuis) s'inscrit dans une longue tradition d'interventions sur les structures. On présente ici le bilan de cette politique ainsi que quelques éléments relatifs à son impact structurel. Au total, un peu plus de 40 000 agriculteurs (sur 125 000 éligibles) auront bénéficié de la mesure et libéré 1 300 000 ha qui auront servi principalement à conforter des exploitations existantes (souvent tenues par de jeunes installés). Facilitant l'adaptation des exploitations agricoles à la réforme de la pac, la préretraite risque cependant de réduire les disponibilités foncières dans les années à venir. The early retirement policy was implemented in France in 1992 for a three-years period and was included in the accompanying measures of the cap reform. This paper presents the first results of this policy and some elements for an assessment of its structural impact. About 40 000 farmers (from 55 to 59 years old) benefit by the measure and released about 1 300 000 ha that were used mainly by young holders to enlarge their farm. The early retirement policy has made easier the adaptation of the French agriculture to the CAP reform but it could lead to a strong reduction of the land market during next years.
