Abstract: [fre] Fondateur de la Société française d'économie rurale en 1948, Michel Augé-Laribé est un auteur souvent cité, mais dont les idées ont été peu analysées dans le détail. Économiste libéral, il est partisan du libre-échange et de la propriété individuelle, s'opposant aux socialistes. La taille des exploitations lui importe moins que la manière dont elles sont cultivées et gérées. Économiste social, il est soucieux de l'homme et de ses conditions de vie, notamment pour les ouvriers. L'enseignement est, pour lui, une pièce essentielle dans l'économie rurale et, prônant l'apolitisme du mouvement associatif, il adhère lui-même aux options du Parti radical-socialiste. [eng] Michel Augé-Laribé (1876-1954) and rural political economy . In 1948, Michel Augé-Laribé created the Société française d'économie rurale. Although his works are very often quoted, his ideas have not been deeply analysed. As a liberal, he is in favour of free-trade market and individual property, opposed to socialist theories. The size of tenures is not so important for him than the way they are managed. He is also a « social » economist aware of the quality of life of every farmers, especially agricultural workers. He thinks teaching is an essential part in the progress of agricultural economy and associative movement must remain apart of political figths. He is himself in favour of the prospects of the French Radical-Socialist Party.
