Abstract: [fre] Les performances économiques passées du secteur agricole et agro-alimentaire au cours des cinquante dernières années, en particulier la conquête des débouchés sur les marchés internationaux, ont constitué un large succès dans l'ensemble. Pourtant l'intervention publique dans ce secteur est controversée. Un nouveau contrat social impliquant des dimensions nombreuses et diverses est en cours d'élaboration ; il ne fait pas encore l'objet d'un consensus profond. [eng] The economic performance of French agriculture and of the agri-food sector during the last fifty years, particularly the growth of exports, has generally been a great success. Yet public intervention in this sector remains controversial. A new social contract, including multiple and diverse dimensions, is in the process of being formed. But the consensus on it is still shallow.
