Abstract: [fre] Délimiter les marchés sur lesquels s'exerce (ou pourrait s'exercer) un pouvoir économique constitue la première étape, délicate mais souvent incontournable, de l'analyse de la légalité des comportements stratégiques des firmes au regard du droit de la concurrence. Si la conception américaine du marché « antitrust » s'est largement imposée en Europe, demeurent toutefois quelques différences quant à la façon de procéder concrètement aux découpages des marchés pertinents. Dans cet article, la présentation détaillée des méthodes utilisées par les autorités communautaires et françaises a pour objectif de permettre aux entreprises de mieux se préparer au dialogue qu'elles peuvent avoir à nouer avec celles- ci, en particulier dans le cadre de leurs projets de croissance externe. [eng] Market definition according to antitrust la w: an economic analysis - The markets on which an economic power is [or could be] exerced represents the first delicate but very often essential step in the analysis of the legality of the firms strategic behaviour with regard to competition law. Even if the American conception of the "antitrust" market is widely prevailing in Europe, a few differences still remain though, for instance, in the more concrete dividing up of relevant markets. In this article the detailed presentation of the methods used by the French & community authorities aims at enabling the firms to be better-prepared for the dialogue they may have to hold with these ones, particularly within the framework of their external growth projects.
