Abstract: [fre] Rompant avec les représentations de la grande entreprise, comme acteur adaptatif et optimisateur évoluant dans un univers contraint, et comme organisation instru­ment de la seule efficacité économique, les auteurs constituent la grande entre­prise en centre de pouvoir privé disposant d'un pouvoir discrétionnaire qui se manifeste tant dans la définition de l'univers des biens que dans la structuration du marché.. C'est une conceptualisation unitaire qui est proposée ici, elle permet de penser dans un même mouvement fonctionnement de l'organisation et production des buts, systèmes de pouvoir interne et pouvoir de marché, acquis du passé (politiques cristallisées) et pratiques actuelles. The authors break away from the dominant view of the large company — on adaptable actor and automatic calculator in a constrained environment and an instrument only of efficiency. They resituate the large firm as a center of private discretionnary power — in defining both the universe of goods and the structuring of the market. They suggest an unitarian conceptualisation enabling a visualisation both of how fonctions thé organisation and how its goals are set, what the internal power structure and the power over the market are, the results of past strategies and the caracteristics of present action.
