Abstract: [fre] Les compagnies privées de chemin de fer dépendaient étroitement de l'Etat tant sur le régime des concessions que, des conditions générales d'exploitation. La politique économique en matière de chemin de fer adoptée par les divers régimes politiques explique pour une très large part le mouvement de l'investissement et le niveau des subventions. L'appel à la garantie d'intérêt de l'Etat dépend des conditions d'exploitations. Dans celles-ci, les contraintes de service public se sont progressivement alourdies. Malgré les participations financières de l'Etat, le bilan général des transferts est largement en défaveur des compagnies. Les problèmes de fond entre l'Etat et les compagnies annoncent la future étatisation des chemins de fer. [eng] Financial transfers between State. And private railway companies-France : 1833-1908. Yves Leclercq. The private railroad campantes depended heavily on state granted concessions as well as on their general operating conditions.. The economic policy adopted by the different political regimes explains in a broad way the movement of investisments and the level of subventions with regard to the railroads. State garanted investment depend on the general operating conditions. These become progressively burdenson under the contraints of public service. In spite of the financial participation by the state the balance of transfers is largely against the companies. Tfic fnndamental problems beticeen the state and the companies announces the future establishment of state control on the railroad companies.
