Abstract:
[eng] Protectionism and exchange rate : two complementary weapons. Gérard Lafay. Theory of protectionism and theonj of exchange rate are, very often, dissociated in international economics. The first one is dependent on real approach, and the second one on monetary approach. In terms of economic policy, protectionism and exchange rate have to be studied together : both contribute to settle domestic price Systems linkage conditions.. However, those both instruments, which have specific purpose have to be used for specific policies : exchange rate have to make macroeconomic choices consistent, whereas protection have to contribute to selective industrial policies.
