Abstract:
[fre] Orthodoxie libérale et hétérodoxie marginaliste :. . [eng] Liberal orthodoxy and marginalist heterodoxy: Clement Colson. . From point of view of the history of economic thought, Clement Colson's (1853-1939) work appears to be quite original. In the context of the debate opposing the French liberal school and mathematical economists, his works appears to be attempts to reconcile the liberal « message », the « computations » of French economist-engineers and the « abstract rigour » of the more marginal mathematicians, for whom he proposes a synthesis as well.. This originality can be explained first by his training as an economist-engineer as well as by his experience as a consultant and professer in the schools specialized in engineering where he taught. This originality corresponds, in addition, to a methodological choice that is critical of the liberal and walrasian conceptions, which were a synthesis of theorical and applied economies. The developments of such notions in the public services or in the attempts to outline more macro-economic approach, constitute two clear illustrations.
