Abstract:
[eng] Localization and competition in banking . . The object of this paper is to survey recent developments of the banking theory focusing on the relations between competition and localization in banking. First, we consider the main determinants of the market power of banks in local banking markets : switching costs, market shares, customer relationships, reputation. Then, we treat of the issue of the dynamics of competition in local banking markets and we show how the previous factors act as barriers to entry in local banking markets. [fre] Localisation et concurrence dans la banque. .
