Abstract: [eng] Trust : reality or illusion ? A critical look at a Williamson's thesis. . For Williamson, the concept of trust is useless. Whenever a calculative approach is possible, and he believes it is for economic and social exchange in general with the exception of relations between family, friends and lovers, cooperation becomes self-sustaining because it is founded exclusively on the convergence of interests. My critical examination bears on the generality and the realism of the conditions under­lying this postulate namely the presence of a common calculative space and the existence of a shared observational world. It tends to show in particular that Williamson confuses calculation and judgment and, as a result, he fails to disqualify the use of the notion of trust for either social exchange or market relations. Dès lors que la calculabilité est possible, et elle le serait pour l'ensemble de l'échange économique et social à l'exception des relations entre les proches, la coopération se soutient elle-même puisqu'elle est exclusivement fondée sur la convergence des intérêts. L'examen critique porte sur la généralité des conditions qui fondent cette proposition, à savoir la présence d'un espace de calcul commun et l'existence d'un univers d'observation commun. Il conduit à montrer, en particulier, que Williamson confond calcul et jugement et à conclure qu'il n'est parvenu à disqualifier l'usage de la notion de confiance ni pour l'échange social ni même pour les relations marchandes.
