Abstract: [eng] Freedom of choice : an alternative measure of well-being. . This article proposes a conceptual and theorical reflection on freedom of choice. From axiomatic developments of the recent literature, it leads up to propose a general definition of this notion on the basis of a result of Kreps [1979]. An axiomatic construction of a measure of freedom of choice fitting with this definition is then undertaken in a social choice setting. [fre] La liberté de choix. Une mesure alternative du bien-être. . Cet article propose une réflexion conceptuelle et théorique sur la notion de liberté de choix en économie normative. Fondée sur les développements axiomatiques de la littérature récente, elle conduit à proposer sur la base d'un résultat de Kreps [1979] une définition générale de cette notion. Une construction axiomatique d'une mesure de la liberté de choix répondant à cette définition est alors entreprise dans un cadre de choix social.
