Abstract: [eng] The recent renewal of the evolutionary approach in economics is an occasion to check the potential contribution of the natural selection analogy to economics in general and to the theory of innovation in particular. After stating the initial and controversial positions the author analyzes the main features of the selection process and shows that limited recall should be at the heart of the new approach to economic rationality. [fre] Avec le renouveau récent de l'approche évolutionniste en économie, il est nécessaire d'évaluer le potentiel de l'analogie de la sélection naturelle en économie en général, et pour la théorie de l'innovation en particulier. Partant des positions ini- tiales controversées, l'auteur tend à mettre l'accent sur les caractéristiques fondamentales du processus sélectif pour aboutir à la conclusion qu'une approche interne de mémoire imparfaite doit être au centre de la reconceptualisation de la rationalité économique.
