La numérisation des biens tels que la musique, les films et les logiciels réduit les coûts de copie tout en garantissant une qualité identique à l'original. Jointe à la pénétration d'Internet haut débit, elle incite au piratage par le grand public. Dans quelle mesure la rente des détenteurs des droits est-elle menacée ? Cet article propose une revue de la littérature des problématiques économiques posées par le piratage des biens numériques. Il précise les conditions d'une telle menace et les modalités de réappropriation de la valeur. Il présente aussi les principales contributions économiques relatives aux impacts des protections juridiques, techniques et fiscales et leur efficacité. However, digitali- zation of goods such as music, videos and softwares reduces copying costs while assuring a quality of the copy as good as the original. The parallel growth of the Internet contributes to the birth of high scale piracy by the public. To what extent the rent of the owners of the right is threatened ? This paper surveys the main economic issues at stake through a presentation of the positive and negative consequences of illegal copying on firms strategies. It also reviews the impacts and efficiency of legal, technical and fiscal protections.
