La solidarité internationale, une profession ? Ambivalence et ambiguïtés de la professionnalisation

Abstract: [eng] Jean Freyss — International Solidarity, a profession ? . Is the issue of professionalizing ngo's not, in some way, an expression of more profound transformations affecting such organisations ? This article deciphers the main links which condition the strategies of ngo's before presenting a historical and socio-political analysis of movements of international solidarity around two ideological poles : philanthropic charity and social solidarity. From these results the ambivalence of this professionalizing, the notion of which covers two distinct processes whose pertinence raises questions, in the light of the developments which have now led to the pre-eminence of humanitarian urgencies.
