Abstract: [eng] In 1988 and 1989, the French economic growth was the ever recorded since the first oil shock, even if it was lower than it used to be in the 1950's and 1960's. The French growth, in line with of the more industrialised countries, benefited from a particularly favourable economic context : a low inflation rate, some competitiveness gains, a positive contribution to the external accounts, small current and budget deficits. Moreover, there was significant job creation, any break in the productivity growth rate. However, the rate hardly decreased and is still very high (2 500 000 people). [fre] En 1988 et 1989 la France a connu la plus forte croissance économique depuis le premier choc pétrolier, mais elle reste inférieure à celle des années cinquante et soixante. La croissance française a été en phase avec celle des partenaires et s'est développée dans un contexte particulièrement favorable : inflation modérée, légers gains de compétitivité et contribution positive du solde extérieur à la croissance, déficits courant et public faibles. De plus les créations d'emplois ont été nombreuses, sans rupture du rythme de croissance de la productivité. Cependant le chômage a peu diminué et reste encore à un niveau élevé (2 500 000 personnes).
