Abstract: We conducted a growth accounting exercise where we distinguish information and communication technology (ICT) capital and the rest of physical capital from 1999 to 2004. Implicit deflators and factor shares were used from different sources. Following the example of the Australian Bureau of Statistics, price indexes from the US ICT's sector were suitably translated to the Mexican ICT sector. Although ICT capital grew in an accelerating manner during the analyzed period, its contribution to economic growth was limited. In this sense, the new economy has not yet taken hold in Mexico.
