La polpa e l’osso: Manlio Rossi-Doria Writings on Agriculture Environment and Natural Resources

Abstract: The article is the introduction to the volume edited by the author with the same title on the occasion of the centennial anniversary of Manlio Rossi-Doria. The volume is a collection of selected writings published between 1929 and 1986 divided in four thematic sections: agronomic modernization, land amelioration, natural disasters and human action, ecology and energy. Prevailing contents by section are as follows: first, land management, pasture improvement, soil protection, upland and lowland integration; second, land reclamation and land tenure; third, natural and man made disasters and related policies; fourth, ecology, energy sources, including nuclear, and related policy issues. After presenting the structure of the selection, an overview of selected writings emphasizes the continuity of Manlio Rossi-Doria committment with agriculture environment natural resources and related policies.
