The Second Journey: Impressions of American Society
Manlio Rossi-Doria
QA - Rivista dell'Associazione Rossi-Doria, 2010, issue 2
Abstract:
Travelling from the Usa to Italy, Rossi-Doria describes the impressions of his second visit to America. Rossi-Doria writes that he had this time a deeper and surer understanding of this big Country. On this occasion, in fact, he came into contact with American society, with the everyday life, the greatness and the contradictions of the United States. His judgment is of a Country that is continually and very rapidly modified, in which there is also «an ugly side», such as the poverty and the social marginalization of the black citizens. But, overall, the Usa is a country moving towards a more mature democracy.
