PROJECT MANAGEMENT DATA IN INNOVATION ORIENTED SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT

Abstract: The focus of this article is on project management data acquisition, analysis, processing and classification in the context of innovation oriented software development. The role played by data in the decision-making process is highlighted. Main data categories, specific to IT project management, are depicted. Data sources are described and analyzed. Data collection process specific to software development project management is formalized into a diagram. Data sorting and grading methods are submitted by offering practical examples from the author’s own activity. Software tools for data management are indicated. Methods of data analysis are presented. An indicator for data consistency is introduced. Key characteristics of the indicator are submitted for analysis. Future research opportunities regarding data management are suggested.
