Romanian Economic Business Review, 2019, vol. 14, issue 4, 32-41

Abstract: Malthus is a figure analogous to economics in the same way as the phlogiston theory is to chemistry: antiquated, outdated, erroneous and harmful. In this paper, we summarize Malthusian theory, its flaws, and explain why it is not valid for policymaking decisions. We also discuss the historical background and response to Malthus’s ideals, paying particular attention to the national government-level throughout the world.
