Abstract: Due to the negative effects on the environment made by the usage of fossil fuels, a poor management regarding energy sources made the world leaders to rethink the development strategies for the global economy. As a consequence the European Union made its own strategy based among others on utilizing the alternative energy sources. The paper analyses the implementation of these strategies in Romania, who is an EU member since 2007.
