Abstract: The outbreak of the financial crisis in Romania at the end of 2008 marked a turning point from the strong economic growth of the previous years. Starting from the nature and the key features of the current economic crisis, we examine its impacts in Romania, both from the national and regional perspective, and the corresponding policy responses.
