El empleo en los servicios públicos en las regiones europeas: ¿Existe un patrón de concentración espacial?

Abstract: RESUMEN El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar la distribución espacial del empleo en servicios públicos en 124 regiones europeas. Para ello se emplean distintas técnicas de análisis exploratorio espacial, como la I de Moran y la C de Geary. Los resultados obtenidos muestran la existencia de un patrón de concentración espacial que se traduce en severas diferencias entre las regiones escandinavas y mediterráneas, diferencias que merecen un estudio más profundo. ABSTRACT The objective of this paper is to examine the spatial distribution of employment in public services in 124 European regions. To do so we employ various exploratory spatial analysis techniques, such as the calculation of the Morans I and the Gearys C statistics. The results obtained highlight the existence of a pattern of spatial concentration which translates into differences between the Scandinavian and the Mediterranean regions, differences that deserve further study.
