Análisis de agrupaciones provinciales a partir del enfoque de desigualdad y polarización

Abstract: RESUMEN En esta nota se analiza el atractivo asociado a distintas agregaciones provinciales a partir de instrumentos basados en los enfoques de desigualdad y polarización. En particular, se evaluan agrupaciones informales como las NUTS 1 europeas, los ejes de desarrollo (Villaverde y Pérez (1996) ó las áreas geoeconómicas (Alcaide (2002) y formales, como las sugeridas por Aghevli y Mehran (1981) y Davies y Shorrocks (1989), atendiendo a dos criterios básicos: el error de agregación cometido en cada caso y el número de grupos considerado. ABSTRACT In this note we examine the appealing properties associated with some provincial groupings through the use of some instruments based on inequality and polarization approaches. In particular, we explore some informal groupings like European NUTS 1, the development axis (Villaverde y Pérez (1996) and the geoconomic areas (Alcaide (2002) and also statistical, like the ones suggested by Aghevli y Mehran (1981) y Davies y Shorrocks (1989). In all cases we consider two basic criteria for the comparative analysis: the aggregation error and the number of groups considered.
