Un indicador de competitividad para las provincias Españolas

Abstract: Resumen: Este trabajo analiza la competitividad en la economía española, siendo el ámbito geográfico de la investigación el espacio provincial. Así, se han desarrollado dos grandes bloques. En el primero, se presenta la construcción de un indicador compuesto, siendo el análisis factorial la técnica empleada para la agregación de la información. Para ello, se ha construido una base de datos formada por quince indicadores parciales que se integran en tres grandes áreas: infraestructuras y accesibilidad territorial, recursos humanos y desarrollo económico sostenible. En el segundo bloque, mostramos un ranking provincial para la competitividad, abarcando el periodo 2000-2007. Abstract: This paper analyzes the competitiveness of the Spanish economy, being the province the geographic scope of the investigation. In order to do so, two approaches have been developed. In the first, we present the construction of a composite indicator, using factor analysis technique for aggregating information. To this end, we have constructed a database consisting of fifteen partial indicators that are integrated into three major areas: infrastructure and territorial accessibility, human resources and sustainable economic development. In the second approach, we describe a provincial ranking for competitiveness, covering the period 2000-2007.
