El tráfico de productos petrolíferos en el Archipiélago canario, 1862-1973

Abstract: RESUMEN En este trabajo se estudia el tráfico de petróleos en Canarias desde 1862 hasta 1973. A pesar de que las Islas tienen que importar todo el petróleo que consumen, gracias a su situación geográfica y a su particular sistema fiscal desempeñan también la función de suministradores energéticos a otras economías, con CEPSA como actor principal desde 1930. El análisis se divide en tres etapas, describiendo en cada una los productos objeto del tráfico, su origen y destino. El objetivo es doble: explicar la estructura energética regional y llamar la atención sobre la necesidad de rectificar los valores de los productos petrolíferos en la balanza de pagos regional. ABSTRACT Oil foreign trade of Canary Islands from 1862 to 1973 is studied in this paper. In spite of Canaries have to import all the oil consumed, play the role of energetic supplier of other countries thanks to their geographical situation and particular fiscal system, with CEPSA as main actor from 1930. An analysis by products and by import origins and export destination is made in each one of the three phases that can be described. This study has two objectives: to explain regional energetic structure, and to show the different values that oil imports and exports must have in the regional balance of payments.
