El emprendimiento en Regiones Fronterizas: Estudio de cuatro municipios de la BIN

Abstract: Resumen:El objetivo de este estudio es analizar e identificar nuevas perspectivas sobre los procesos de renovación que pueden ocurrir en las zonas periféricas: las regiones fronterizas. El estudio exploratorio se centró en cuatro municipios de la Beira Interior Norte, ubicados en el interior de Portugal limita en la frontera con España. Los resultados sugieren que, a pesar de las condiciones desfavorables, en teoría, es posible fomentar el espíritu empresarial en las regiones fronterizas asumidas como espacios socioeconómicos periféricos. El estudio también identifica tres tipos de iniciativa de emprendimiento en las zonas fronterizas de Portugal: el emprendimiento inducido por la oportunidad; el emprendimiento motivado por la necesidad y el emprendimiento en la búsqueda de un estilo de vida diferente; y por una mezcla de motivos.Abstract:This study analyses and identifies new perspectives on renewal processes in peripheral regions or border regions. The study contributes to the literature by analysing the influence of regional factors in the formation of entrepreneurial intentions. The exploratory study focused on four municipalities of the North Beira Interior, which is in the interior of Portugal bordering Spain. The results suggest that it is possible to foster entrepreneurship in border regions assumed as peripheral socio-economic spaces despite unfavourable conditions. Furthermore, the research shows that a business environment in a peripheral region can promote and encourage entrepreneurship and ensure a stable population. The study also identifies three types of entrepreneurship in Portuguese border areas: entrepreneurial activity induced by opportunity; entrepreneurial activity motivated by necessity and entrepreneurship in pursuit of a different lifestyle; and mixed motives.
