Abstract: This paper identifies the economic and institutional factors behind the occurring of financial crises. It distinguishes between welfare contributions arising from free trade for goods and services and those originating from the free flow of international capital. Ce rapport étudie les facteurs économiques et institutionnels qui sont susceptibles de déclencher des crises financières. Une distinction y est tracée entre les contributions au bien-être originant du libre-échange pour les biens et les services, et celles causées par la libre circulation internationale des capitaux.
