Abstract: For modern economic thought, including authors who claim to share his legacy, the Keynesian vision of the economic system is given a rough handling. On the other hand, every year, national and international statistical offices publish their reports on national accounts. These publications are the result of a long historical process. It is now acknowledged that the first modern systems of national accounts (with their articulated sectorial accounts) are born at the beginning of the Second World War. In these publications – official or not – the name of Keynes is never mentioned. The aim of the paper is to assess the contribution of Keynes in this field. It clearly appears that, as far as the theoretical foundations and the practical problems of the national income and expenditures are concerned, Keynes’s ideas are still at work and are still much alive.
