Abstract: There is no doubt that organizations worldwide are striving for success and outwitting those in the same industry. In order to do so, organizations have to obtain and utilize her human resources effectively; the question that may arise in many instances is why human resources are important. The study examined the effect of training and development on employee productivity in selected deposit money banks in Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria, using three randomly selected banks as case studies. Through a well-structured questionnaire distributed to a sample of 240 staff of three selected banks, data were collected and analyzed using the Method of frequencies, percentages and regression analysis, which was arrived at using the formulae developed by Krejcie and Morgan.
