Abstract:
This study examined the relationship among financial disclosure quality and ownership structure on the performance of the non-financial quoted companies in Nigeria over the period of 2009- 2020.This study aims to connect such of these variables to produce interactive model describing the influence of financial reporting quality and ownership structure on financial performance of nonfinancial listed companies in Nigeria Using pooled ordinary least square, fixed effect model, and the system- generalised moment method (GMM). On the effect of firm age on performance, while the result of system GMM showed a negative and significant effect, the pooled OLS and fixed effect produced mixed results. The fixed effect model showed a positive and significant effect while pooled OLS showed a negative and insignificant effect. The system GMM result showed that a unit increase in firm age will reduce performance of the firm by less than 1%. This revealed an inverse relationship between the years of existence of a firm and its performance.
