Abstract: Population and socio-economic development are interrelated. Changes in population size and structure affect various economic and social factors relating to income, education, health and employment. Conversely, demographic factors such as fertility, mortality and migration are affected by changes in socio-economic conditions. Besides, the determinants of demographic changes are embedded in social systems and are influenced by collective perceptions and public policy (ESCAP 1989). This paper examines the prospect for stabilization of the Bangladesh population under alternative demographic scenarios
