Abstract:
in Bangladesh are rather few. The Household Expenditure (HES) of the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) executed at intervals of five years has traditionally represented the principal data source for poverty trends at national, urban and rural levels. Though initially plagued with questions of reliability and timeliness (the 1985/86 is generally discounted because of low survey quality), BBS has made noticeable improvements in survey methodology and data quality. The last HES was executed in 2000
