Abstract:
As the wind of globalization blows, trade barriers are being dismantled worldwide, with the result that goods and services, technology, capital, labor, information and even firms are now moving more freely than ever before, crossing even national boundaries. Every country’s economic survival now directly depends on the adoption of the most efficient market-oriented and international production systems. At this historical juncture of industrialization, Kuwait is preparing its industries to embark on an active program of industrial development. This paper proposes an industrial strategy that aims to restructure existing industries so that they are able to market their products worldwide, establish local and regional industrial links that would provide a sound and sustainable base for industrial development, and provide the necessary foreign resources to local industries to reposition themselves in the wake of new production and marketing trends emerging in the global marketplace.
